With reference to your letter of the 28th ultimo,
forwarding your comments on Mr. Percebois' report of the 19th
July and on the notes of conversations on the 13th and 19th
July, I am directed to inform you that His Excellency the
Officer Administering the Government has appointed the Hon.
Mr. C.McI.Messer, Acting Treasurer, and the Hon. Mr. E.Üsborre
to be a Committee and enquire and report on the question copy
of which is enclosed.
I am to request you to give the Committee every
facility to prosecute their enquiry.
With reference to the last paragraph of the notes
which accompanies your letter of the 28th July, i an to point
out to you that by the terms of the letter of the 2nd May, Mr.
Percebois' enquiry was not limited to the Junk Office.
